Share Your Knowledge!
Why you learn the most when you teach others.
Inspiration
I found this thought really inspiring: share your knowledge!
The idea originally comes from Nathan Barry. He argues that each of us has skills in some area that the people around us don't have. And in my opinion that's absolutely true. But there's also a hidden benefit to sharing your knowledge: you learn something yourself. Because to teach someone something, we have to really understand the topic — otherwise the whole conversation is just "um…", "hmm…", and so on.
Now imagine you're explaining something and — bam — you stumble over a point you thought you knew inside out. That's exactly where the advantage lies: now you're motivated to figure out what was going on and how it works in this or that case. You want deeper insight, details, or new information about it. And there's yet another benefit: people start to see you as an expert in "that" area. For me that's a really nice feeling. Recognition is a great side effect and, at the same time, one of the most important drivers in my life. Know what I mean?
For this reason, from my next post onward I'll try to "teach" you something. By that I mean I'll share small, useful things you can experiment with. There's one crucial difference from classic teaching, though. There won't be any "you should do this or that." Instead, I'll tell you about my own experiences, experiments, and their results — and you can, if you like, try to work them into your daily life or adapt them for yourself. Authenticity is the most important thing to me in all of this. Here you'll only find sentences like: "I did it this way…". Nothing more, nothing less.
Right now I'm deliberately keeping my posts short for a specific reason: I'm on a learning journey and haven't yet read any articles or books on how to do it better. As you can see, there isn't much pure entertainment or filler here. For now it's simply my thoughts and ideas, written down. On top of that, I try to post at least twice a week to stay on track on this journey I started more or less by chance.
Right now I'm listening to music, typing these lines, and simply feeling good about it. What makes me even happier is that I've kept up this routine consistently over the past two weeks. My only goal here is long-term success. That's it for today.
All the best,
Begli
