Now

Who Am I, what I'm working on, reading and learning at the moment.

A bit about me

Hi, I'm Begli — father, husband, and a qualified application developer currently working as an IT Specialist.

Those two aren't the same thing, and the gap is the interesting part. The qualification is software development; the job title is IT. But the code I actually write — at work and in my own time — is frontend, near enough all of it. Interfaces are what I enjoy and what I'm good at: how a thing looks, how it behaves, and how it feels to the person on the other side of the screen. I like web development as a craft, but UI and UX are what I actually enjoy.

Professionally I'm in IT at Accenture since 2022; before that I did my apprenticeship at Mackevision. So technology is with me all day long: breaking problems down, building things up from scratch. Now, I have something completely different to try out — writing.

Away from the screen I read a lot, self-help literature included. Since 2024 personal growth has been the topic that stuck; a few articles in my writing came out of that.

Right now

Writing — short notes over in Margins, and longer pieces when something is worth the space.

Reading — The Millionaire Fastlane, MJ DeMarco.

Learning — fiction. I wrote my first real page recently, deleted it, then wrote it again. Nothing published yet.

The goal for this stretch is consistency: better a small, genuine piece than the one perfect post that never appears.

What I write

Different things, and they overlap more than you'd think.

Articles — what I take away from the books I read, and from trying things out in my own life. Personal stories — the wins and the things that didn't work. Fiction — original stories and fan fiction, which is the newest of the three.

Why I write in public

I'm learning the craft while doing it, not after. The idea comes from Austin Kleon's Show Your Work!: you don't wait until you're an expert to share something — you share the process as it unfolds, and the sharing is part of how you get better.

So this site is a workshop with the door open. No big promises, no "how to become a superhuman" recipes — just honest thoughts along the lines of: "I did it this way, maybe there's something in it for you too." Some of it will be rough. That's the point.

Glad you're here. Feel free to browse my writing — and if something in it is useful to you, it was already worth writing.

Begli
